Education and Early Care

Education and Early Care Task Force brings together parents, teachers, and community leaders to work for increased childcare, school readiness, and improved education for Bridgeport children.

Co-chairs are Hernan Illingworth, District Parent Advisory Council President and Karen McIntosh, Executive Director of McGivney Center.

    Research on best practices and prevention to reduce school suspensions

    Partnering with Bridgeport Alliance for Young Children (BAYC) and Southwest Area Health Education Center (AHEC) to implement community planning on early childhood health care 

    Advocacy for policies and practices to expand childcare for very young children 

    No City Left Behind Campaign for equitable state education and early care funding 

    Research and advocacy for increased city funding for education
